Frank Vetter, founder of EcoPest

a family business, eco-led from the start.

1967 to 2021

EcoPest is a family-run business, established by Frank Vetter in 2002. Frank developed and trained highly skilled teams across Gauteng, KwaZulu Natal and Cape Town, building a national footprint serving multinational franchises across hospitality, manufacturing and FMCG.

We lost Frank in 2021 due to Covid-19 complications. He left behind two loving sons, Reece and Jarryd Vetter, business partners across the national footprint, and a team of dedicated EcoPestians carrying his name and his standards forward.

Our aim is to carry the core fundamentals Frank instilled in the team: long-term client relationships, efficient service, and compliance as a default rather than a scramble.

The next chapter

What we're building next

The next chapter at EcoPest merges Frank's fundamentals with deliberate innovation. Always considering an eco-friendly alternative to traditional pest control where one exists. Five things are on the table.

Systems

We have partnered with Briskflow, an innovative customer-relationship portal with new red-dot tracking technology. The result is easier service tracking, automated compliance reporting, and a level of convenience for clients that the old way of doing things did not allow.

ProFume

We have invested in the equipment, product and training needed to bring the ProFume fumigation system into Southern Africa, accelerating the phase-out of toxic Methyl Bromide fumigation. This opens our work to the agricultural and logistics markets, in a way that is aligned with the Montreal Protocol's environmental commitments.

Live capture initiative

Our name represents eco-friendly pest control. The live-capture initiative is the formal version of that principle: partnerships with rescue centres and the establishment of release sites for animals that find themselves in the wrong place in our urban environments.

Rebranding

In partnership with 5Pixel, we are undergoing a full rebranding strategy that outlines the eco-friendly future goals of the business, brings a fresh approach to the brand, and supports possible franchise expansion into regions we do not currently service.

DIY product development

EcoPest is developing its own range of DIY products to help small businesses and individuals economically treat their homes and small premises without the cost of technicians and travel. The plan is a safe, effective product line that anyone can apply without specialist training.

Eco-friendly, in practice

Our name represents eco-friendly pest control. The live-capture initiative is the formal version of that principle: partnerships with rescue centres and the establishment of release sites for animals that find themselves in the wrong place in our urban environments.

We do what we can to preserve nature alongside doing the work. Bees, snakes, spiders, mammals and exotic birds get a relocation rather than an extermination wherever there is a viable alternative.
